Stuntin'
Darrel Don Jones (born August 21, 1989), better known by the stage name Stuntin', is an American rapper based in Hollywood, California. He first received recognition with his single "So Special", feat. American R&B singer, Sammie.
Early life
Stuntin' was born on August 21, 1989 in Trinidad & Tobago to a mother and a father searching for new opportunities. They moved to Redondo Beach, California when Jones was only 5 years old. He attended and graduated from Carson High, in Carson, California. Music became a passion of his in 1999, after hearing Jay Z's last single from the Vol. 3 album, "Times of S. Carter", "Big Pimpin'". He began writing, and in the 9th grade, purchased his first recording mic and mixer.
The stage name was given to him from colleagues in his neighborhood, as well as his High School peers. The word, "stuntin", is a common urban term describing high class flashing of jewelry, clothes, and women. When asked where the name came from, he stated, "because of the way I presented myself. I was consistently.. just "Stuntin'".
Career
In 2005, it was common to find Jones performing when and wherever he was granted the opportunity, yet it would not be until 2006, when he met a well-known Los Angeles Producer that he would be properly introuduced to the scene. He began to look at music, not only as a passion, but also as a business.
He kept quiet through 2007, spending endless nights in the studio. It paid off, because in 2008 he had created quite a stir. His fan base slowly grew more, and in 2010, he had dropped his first Single, "So Special" feat. R&B Veteran Sammie. His 2nd Single, "Love You Down" feat. another Veteran Pleasure P, dropped in 2011, and is expected to do very well on the charts. It is to no surprise as to why these Vets of the business wished to collaborate with such a fresh, new artist.
Jones is currently working on various projects, including his mixtape, which he plans to release in 2011.
